چکیده

DPNTM is a versatile technology that leverages Scanning Probe Microscopy for applications in biotechnology, photomask repair, molecular-electronics, nano-electronics and mask-less lithography. The DPN process was augmented for biotechnology applications (genomics, proteomics) through the design, development, prototype fabrication, testing and manufacture of commercial microfluidic systems called “InkwellsTM”. In this study VOF method was used to simulate and optimize the design of micro-capillary flows in Inkwells. Subsequently the simulations were verified experimentally. Based on these results a novel system model was developed to predict the temporal sequence of flow in the different parts of the microfluidic network.

Optimizing microfluidic ink delivery for dip pen nanolithography

Joe Fragala NanoInk Inc. Microfabrication Group Campbell, California 95008 Abstract. In Dip Pen NanolithographyTM (DPNTM) ultrasharp tips coated with chemical compounds (or ‘‘ink’’) are in contact with a surface to produce submicron sized features. There is a need to deliver multiple inks to an array of closely spaced tips (or ‘‘pens’’). This work demonstrates the design optimization, fabricati...

Functional extensions of Dip Pen NanolithographyTM: active probes and microfluidic ink delivery

Dip Pen Nanolithography (DPN) is an important technique for nanotechnology and a fundamental new tool for studying the consequences of miniaturization. In this scanning probe technique a sharp tip is coated with a functional molecule (the ‘ink’) then brought into contact with a surface where it deposits ink via a water meniscus. The DPN process is a direct-write pattern transfer technique with ...

Controlled preparation of inorganic nanostructures on substrates by dip-pen nanolithography.

Controlled preparation of inorganic nanostructures on substrates is very important for various applications of functional inorganic nanomaterials. Dip-pen nanolithography (DPN), as an atomic force microscopy (AFM) based technique, can directly fabricate nanostructures with precise position and morphology control on the nanometer scale and meanwhile image the produced nanostructures in situ at h...

A diffusive ink transport model for lipid dip-pen nanolithography.

Despite diverse applications, phospholipid membrane stacks generated by dip-pen nanolithography (DPN) still lack a thorough and systematic characterization that elucidates the whole ink transport process from writing to surface spreading, with the aim of better controlling the resulting feature size and resolution. We report a quantitative analysis and modeling of the dependence of lipid DPN fe...

"Dip-Pen" nanolithography on semiconductor surfaces.

Dip-Pen Nanolithography (DPN) uses an AFM tip to deposit organic molecules through a meniscus onto an underlying substrate under ambient conditions. Thus far, the methodology has been developed exclusively for gold using alkyl or aryl thiols as inks. This study describes the first application of DPN to write organic patterns with sub-100 nm dimensions directly onto two different semiconductor s...
